Schedule: Mon/Wed/Fri, 10:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. EST
80% remote, with occasional in-person sessions at our office.

The Opportunity
Join the Women’s Economic Council (WEC) in a pivotal support role across operations and programming. You’ll work closely with a broad partnership and client network, supporting compliance, client intake, volunteer onboarding, program tracking, and communications—working in service of advancing gender equity and economic opportunity.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform clerical duties (typing letters, monthly reports, compliance/risk tracking, volunteer logs).
- Keep management and board committees informed of flagged issues/trends.
- Onboard new staff and volunteers, providing support, orientation, and training.
- Compile and submit statistical and narrative reports to funders.
- Help organize and attend program and community engagement events.
- Support funding proposals and budget preparation.
- Maintain program correspondence, including media/materials for promotion.
- Greet and assist clients and partners professionally; facilitate referrals and basic intake.
- Monitor compliance/risk inventories; summarize findings and suggest improvements.
- Contribute to a collaborative, cross-cultural workplace and support WEC policies and committees.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Post‑secondary certificate in Office Administration; 2+ years admin experience—nonprofit/funded programs preferred.
- Familiarity with grants/proposal processes.
- Excellent spoken/written English; French or other language(s) an asset.
- Skilled at communicating with those with limited English proficiency.
- Typing: 50 wpm; proficient with MS Office, Google Workspace, social media.
- Comfortable with standard office equipment and communication tools.
- Professional, inclusive, and customer-focused communication style.
- Cross-cultural competency and experience working in diverse teams.
- Criminal Record Check required.

Manager, Business Development & Strategy

The Opportunity
The Women’s Economic Council (WEC) is seeking a bilingual, entrepreneurial, and mission-aligned Operations & Strategy Manager to help lead the organization out of dormancy and into a new chapter of strategic impact and financial stability.
This is a high-impact, deliverables-based leadership role ideal for someone with strong nonprofit business development experience, strategic agility, and a deep commitment to economic justice for equity-deserving communities. You’ll play a pivotal role in stabilizing WEC through revenue generation, operational rebuilding, and high-stakes stakeholder engagement—all in direct collaboration with the Board of Directors.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead business development efforts and submit competitive funding proposals to government, philanthropic, and private sources.
- Develop and implement a strategic fundraising roadmap with diverse and recurring revenue streams.
- Re-establish WEC’s financial, data, and operational systems for audit readiness and funder compliance.
- Represent WEC in external engagements with sponsors, funders, and strategic allies.
- Develop the concept and sponsorship plan for WEC’s inaugural national conference, including outreach to at least three potential partners.
- Maintain weekly written updates and attend bi-weekly virtual check-ins with the Board.
- Respond promptly (within 2-3 business days) to Board requests, preparing meeting materials and updates as needed.
- Champion feminist economic principles and operationalize inclusion, equity, and risk mitigation practices across deliverables.
Deliverables Overview (First 2–3 Months)
- Minimum 3 funding proposals submitted
- Fundraising strategy (5+ new sources) approved by Board
- 3 core operational systems re-established (finance, file structure, data)
- Financial records organized for audit readiness
- Concept note and sponsorship package drafted; 3+ sponsor leads identified
- Weekly reports + bi-weekly Board check-ins completed
- Draft roadmap for national conference with partners/sponsors
Qualifications
- 3+ years of leadership experience in nonprofit operations, fundraising, or public sector strategy
- Proven success in securing funding, managing grants, and cultivating partnerships
- Fluent English required; French is a strong asset
- Comfortable working independently in a remote setting and reporting to a Board
- Demonstrated familiarity with feminist economic frameworks, anti-oppression principles, or equity-based models
- Strong communicator with excellent writing, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills
Position Details
- Contract Type: Part-Time, Deliverables-Based
- Compensation: $2,500-3000/month
- Schedule: Flexible, with expected availability for weekly updates and bi-weekly virtual meetings
- Location: Remote (Canada-based preferred)

- Performance Review: Formal check-in at the 3-month mark
- Contract Term: 6 months, with potential for renewal based on funding and performance outcomes
